How long is the walk?

17 miles/27 kilometres. It will depend on your  fitness as to how quickly you complete the challenge.  For those who are very fit, the challenge is to 'conquer' the five peaks in five hours. Please tell us how fit you are when you register so we can put you into the most appropriate group.

Will there be many steep climbs?

There is  2,146 feet of ascent overall  but  generally the South Downs are gentle rising hills. The steepest part of the whole walk is at Chantry Hill which requires walkers to be fit. It comes just after the half way point at Sullington Manor Farm where refreshments will be served.

Will there be a chance to stop along the way?

There will be a short comfort break at each of the peaks to find out about the history and landcape and also a lunch break at the halfway point of Sullington Manor Farm where refreshments will be served.

Do we walk in groups or individually?

Accepted Answer

Experienced walks leaders will be at the head of each walking group, according to your preferred pace.

What if I find I can't finish the walk?

Accepted Answer

You can stop at various points along the way and arrange for someone to come and get you. In order, these are the following places: The Frankland Arms, Washington, Sullington Manor Farm, Sullington, Worlds End pub, Patching.

What happens at the end of the walk?

Our final destination is at Highdown Hill, where there is yet another pub/hotel nearby. Please arrange for someone to pick you up at Highdown car park, BN12 6FB or otherwise, you can walk to nearby Goring-by-Sea train station.

Do I have to fundraise?

You don’t have to fundraise – just pay the £25 registration fee. However, Olly's Future needs £100k per year to deliver its programmes, so every penny counts.
