About this event

Worthing One Peak Challenge (6 miles/circular walk).

Come join us for an outdoor adventure on Saturday, 6th September 2025 at 9.00am, enjoying the splendour of the South Downs national park while raising vital funds during World Suicide Prevention Week for www.ollysfuture.org.uk. You'll be helping an amazing cause. For anyone who has lost someone to suicide, this is a chance to honour them.

The challenge marks FIVE years of Olly's Future national suicide prevention charity in memory of a wonderful young man from Worthing - Oliver (Olly) Hare. Every single penny raised will support our suicide prevention work. This includes delivering training to equip people with the skills to spot the signs in someone who may be thinking of suicide and have a conversation that could help save their life. To date more than 7,000 people worldwide have had this training. It was co-developed by Ann Feloy, founder of Olly's Future, in memory of her beloved son. With your support, we can deliver this to even more people.

Help a very worthwhile cause and do something great for your own wellbeing too.

Frequently asked questions

How long is the walk?

6 miles/10 kilometres. It will depend on your fitness as to how quickly you complete the challenge.

Will there be many steep climbs?

Generally the South Downs are gentle rising hills which is the case with Cissbury Ring. There is just one fairly steep but short climb as you arrive at Cissbury Ring. Once at the top, you circle Iron Age Hillfort along a fairly level footpath around the ramparts.

Will there be a chance to stop along the way?

There will be short comfort breaks to admire the view.

Do we walk in groups or individually?

Experienced walks leaders will be at the head of each walking group, according to your preferred pace.

What happens at the end of the walk?

We start and finish the walk at Hill Barn Lane Recreation Ground car park - BN14 9QF. What3Words app = scorching.candle.rural. Worthing train station is a mile south of Broadwater Green, or else you can park a car nearby or arrange a lift from a friend or family member.

What is the route again?

Please click on this link to see the five peaks route. For this shorter walk, we will take the same route, then walk around Cissbury Ring and come back along the same path we went up, starting and finishing at Hill Barn Road, which is near Broadwater Green. https://tinyurl.com/mr3dz6ej

Do I have to fundraise?

You don’t have to fundraise – just pay the individual £25 registration fee or family of four regisration fee of £35. However, Olly's Future needs £100k per year to deliver its programmes, so every penny counts. We’ve set a £100 target and can help you set up a fundraising page.
