This is a half-day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.
This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, Grassroots Suicide Prevention, YMCA Downslink Group and West Sussex County Council.
What is Youth MHFA Lite?
Youth MHFA Lite offers an introduction to young people’s mental health and to mental health issues.
What will I learn on a Youth MHFA Lite course?
The aims of Youth MHFA Lite are to enable participants to:
- Gain an understanding of some of the common mental health issues affecting young people, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders and psychosis
- Work more effectively with young people living with mental health issues
- Identify stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health issues
- Support young people with a mental health issue and relate to their experiences
- Experience a taste of the contents of the Youth MHFA course.
How will I learn?
The Youth MHFA Lite course is a three hour session.
You’ll receive a Youth MHFA Lite manual that you can take away with you at the end of the course and a certificate from MHFA England.
Getting to the Venue
The nearest station to Centenary House is Durrington rail station. The Pulse is a bus which runs regularly along Durrington Lane. Parking is available around Columbia Drive. If you require a disabled parking space please call us at Mind and we will arrange this for you.
Timings and breaks
The course runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
Tea and coffee will be provided during break times.
Your £10 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. This is a non-refundable deposit.
Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.

We are an independent local mental health charity working in West Sussex.
We aim to promote good mental health through the provision of high quality services and through campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and understanding.
Our services support young people, adults, older adults, carers and families affected by mental health problems. We offer help and advice to people around improving their physical and mental well-being, strengthening their self-esteem and confidence, building strong relationships with family, friends and communities, getting into education, training and work and achieving their personal and social goals.
