HCA Wound management
Simple application of a dressing for a skin tear and look at the types of dressing appropriate.
Skin Tear management – we will discuss the different categories of skin tears and appropriate management strategies.
Application of Compression stockings – We will demonstrate the application of stockings with and without applicator aids and overview of the different types of stocking you may see. Also the application of wraps.

Specific- This course focuses on clinical skills relating to wound care
Measurable- This course is delivered by the Community Tissue Viability Team based on the NWCSP
Achievable- During the session your knowledge and skills will be checked repeatedly to ensure they are imbedded.
Relevant- all aspects of the sessions will be relevant to HCAs in all clinical settings
Time-Bound- Reattendance every 3 years is advised to stay up to date with any changes to practice but will be dependent upon the individual’s competence and confidence
