About Ben
Ben is the Director of AlfaMed, providing education for emergency, urgent and primary care professionals. AlfaMed has also produced a series of hugely successful blood test interpretation guides.
Ben has been an advanced paramedic practitioner in primary and urgent care in Warwickshire for the last 10 years in different roles and became one of the early cohorts of Paramedic Independent Prescribers in 2019.
He has spent time as a lecturer of Paramedic Science in higher education and currently works one day a week with EMAS alongside his role as a GP.
His favourite job is as part of the team trackside and aircrew Paramedics delivering prehospital care to the Isle of Man motorcycle road races .

It is at the discretion of an employer in regards to whom they determine can utilise certain skills. It requires appropriate governance and insurance. This course does not lead to individual competency but offers an introduction to the basics of wound care and closure.
Since this is an introductory course, we start with fundamentals and build on these throughout. It is advantageous for individuals to have a basic understanding of wound healing and skin anatomy and to be working in an environment where they are likely to have experience of managing wounds.
No. This course covers wound dressing and simple closure techniques of strips and gluing. Suturing requires local anaesthetics to perform safely and is a specialised technique reserved for registered Health Care Professionals with appropriate training and experience.
