Woven: A series of craft walks. #3 Leigh Woods, Bristol
Sun 9 July 2017, 11:00 – 14:00 BST
Spend a gentle Sunday afternoon of walking & weaving, whilst soaking up the beauty and tranquility of Bristol's Leigh Woods. During the walk you will learn the basic principles of this ancient craft using a simple, portable back-strap style loom. Working spontaneously & intuitively with recycled & locally sourced fibres, and the things that you find along the way, you will have the opportunity to create your own peice of woven cloth inspired by the natural beauty of a woodland backdrop....
On the day:
Please bring your own snacks and a ball of wool for the communal basket. You are also welcome to bring a journal, sketchbook or camera to document your ideas & experiences as you go along.
Please meet at the National Trust office on Valley Road, next to the picnic tables. We will be setting off at 11am prompt so please give yourself plenty of time to find your way. Please bring confirmation of your booking with you.
"Thought is a thread, and the raconteur is a spinner of yarns — but the true storyteller, the poet, is a weaver."
Group sizes will be small so please book early.
