Mayor Brabin welcomes you to The WOW Barn alongside Jude Kelly CBE, Founder & CEO of The WOW Foundation, and Kully Thiarai, Creative Director and CEO of LEEDS 2023, to learn more about this inspirational project, which has brought women and non-binary people from the construction industry together with volunteers to learn new skills, find out about the industry and build a movement.

Join us for a short talk about the project and a chance to get to know some of the people involved.

The WOW Barn will be created during a spectacular 24-hour barn build by 300 women and non-binary people from across West Yorkshire, who have been trained in the construction skills needed to bring the project to fruition. The WOW Barn and site is then transformed into a festival full of talks, skills workshops, food, music and more.

The project is one of LEEDS 2023's 12 signature projects and is a partnership between LEEDS 2023 and WOW, supported by Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Combined Authority, to break down the barriers that remain to women, girls and non-binary people when contemplating a career in construction at every level.

WOW - Women of the World is a global movement of festivals and events that celebrate everything that women, girls and non-binary people do, and takes a frank look at what prevents them from achieving their potential. WOW Festivals launched in 2010 and take place across the world, reaching over five million people to date.

The WOW Barn is presented in partnership by WOW - Women of the World and LEEDS 2023. Supported by West Yorkshire Combined Authority, Leeds City Council and Arts Council England. Delivered in partnership with Civic Engineers and Leeds College of Building. Original concept commissioned by UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK with funding from UK Government. WOW festivals and events are presented by arrangement with the Southbank Centre.

If you're coming from the UKREiiF event at Royal Armouries, there will be a free bus taking you directly from UKREiiF to Cinder Moor. Please ask at the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Pavilion.

• There is step free access to the site, and the site is fully wheelchair accessible. Please note that the ground condition of Cinder Moor is compacted hard earth, topped with a layer of loose mixed sized gravel.

• There are gender free portaloos on site, including 2 accessible portaloos, all of which will be clearly signposted.

• Assistance dogs are very welcome but will need to be kept on a lead at all times.

• A hearing loop is available.

• There is a chill out tent on site (un-staffed).

• A fridge is available to store medicines.
