Description

The Public Record Office of Northern Ireland will deliver a series of lunch time lectures looking at various aspects of the history of maritime disasters and the organisations who work to save life at sea.


The lectures will be held in PRONI at 1 pm on Wednesday afternoons on the following dates:

27 February 2019 - Ernie Cromie on 'Air Sea Rescue operations off the coast of Ulster'.

6 March 2019 - Robert Corbert on 'Saving Lives at Sea: The story of Ulster's Lifeboats'.

13 March 2019 - Denis Mayne on 'Nineteenth-Century Coastguards in Ireland'.

20 March 2019 - Barbara Lomas on 'Wreck and rescue in Dundrum Bay in the 19th century'.

27 March 2019 – Dr Sally Montgomery on 'Lighthouse Optics: Invention and Rivalry'.

3 April 2019 – Stephen Scarth on 'All at sea: maritime records in PRONI'.
