Description

*This event is for staff and students of the University of Huddersfield only*

Write the history of the University of Huddersfield

Most of us use Wikipedia on an almost daily basis to find out about new topics. Wikipedia is reliant on hundreds of thousands of volunteer editors from around the world, to contribute their knowledge and keep the site up-to-date and accurate.

The University of Huddersfield Library, the Teaching and Learning Institute (TALI) and Heritage Quay are organising a Wikipedia Editathon. During this half-day event, we will teach others how to write and edit for Wikipedia, and work together to write the history of the University on its Wikipedia pages.

We will have a list of suggested topics to work on during the day, including the University’s founding, buildings, Schools, staff, and modern-day development. There will be activities suitable to any level of involvement, including editing and expanding existing pages, fact-checking and adding references, or writing new pages.

Whether you are a newcomer to editing Wikipedia, or are already an experienced Wikipedian, there will be plenty all can get involved in. Feel free to pick from our suggested topics to cover or pages to improve, or come along with your own topic of interest to write about.
