Survivors of coercive control and post-separation abuse are too often silenced by the family court system which is frequently weaponised by perpetrators of abuse against protective mothers.
The Write to be Heard project is lifting the lid on this state-sanctioned abuse by encouraging mothers to write anonymously in their own voices about their experiences in this groundbreaking anthology.
Join us for drinks at The Victoria to celebrate the launch of the book and hear from some of the writers, facilitators and editors who have been involved in bringing this collection into existence, including our own founder, Beverley Ward.
Books will be on sale at the event.
All proceeds from ticket donations and from the sale of the book will go towards the cost of the launch event and to supporting the vital work of Mums In Need.
What people are saying:
"A searing collection that exposes the brutal reality of post-separation abuse and family court failures. Essential, urgent reading for anyone working in family justice -- these voices demand to be heard." Saskia Lightburn-Ritchie, Domestic Abuse Experts.
‘This book makes for very powerful, painful and inspiring reading and I really hope that it is widely read, not just by the women who will feel the solidarity that comes from seeing their own experiences reflected on the page, but by the professionals who have the power to make the urgent changes needed.’ Laura Riley - Founder of Mums In Need
"It's an absolute failing of our state that women not able to speak freely about the abuse they’ve suffered at the hands of perpetrators and of our legal system but these women show remarkable strength and bravery. How inspiring to see them turn their experience into such powerful words." Jessica Bradley, family court journalist
