WriteFoxy is thrilled to be partnering with The Timber House, a magical location surrounded by beautiful countryside, to bring you a day-long writing workshop. We'll be looking at using our senses to build a story - and with the stunning location we'll be spoilt for choice!
Who is this writing day for?
Everyone! If you've always wanted to have a go at writing, this writing day is perfect for getting your creative juices flowing in a fun, inclusive environment. If you're a writer already, the writing day will give you the time and space to pause, refocus and deepen your skills. We'll start with what we see, hear, touch and taste and learn to apply that to our writing, crafting stories from the smallest detail that will capture readers' imaginations.
How will it work?
We'll welcome you at 10am, have some time to settle in, then begin with the first part of our senses workshop. We'll find textures, scents and sounds around the house and garden, with a break for mid-morning refreshments. You'll be provided with a lovely notebook and pen, but please feel free to bring your own notebooks, laptops etc if you like.
A buffet lunch will be provided (please let us know if you have any dietary requirements and we'll make sure everyone is catered for) and then we'll look at how to take what we've learned and apply it to our writing, creating characters, plot, locations and story.
The day will be very relaxed and you will have opportunity to explore the beautiful house, garden and surrounding countryside. We've very kindly been granted use of the whole house, so exploring is encouraged! If you find a sunny spot in the garden or cosy nook in the house where you'd like to write, you are more than welcome to enjoy it.
At 5pm the day will end and we'll send you off on your way with a full set of notes covering everything we've explored during the workshop.
Can I just come and write for the day?
Of course! WriteFoxy events always include the option for writers to use the space and time to work on their own projects. We'll provide you with refreshments throughout the day, plus lunch, and Miranda will be on hand while the workshop participants are exploring if you would like any advice or ideas.
How much does the writing day cost?
The price of the writing day is £70 per person, which includes all notes, writing equipment, refreshments and lunch. But if you book before 1st August, you can take advantage of the Early Bird price of £65 per person.
Is there car parking?
Yes, there is space to park at The Timber House.
What age is this workshop suitable for?
The workshop is aimed at adult writers. Young people aged 16+ are welcome to attend but must be accompanied by an adult.
