Description

Writers and Their Letters

Three acclaimed editors and critics discuss the challenges and pleasures of editing letters for publication.

In Living on Paper: Letters from Iris Murdoch 1934-1995, Emeritus Professor of English Avril Horner has co-edited the letters of the late distinguished novelist and philosopher Iris Murdoch (Under the Net, The Sea, The Sea, Existentialists and Mystics) and Professor of Irish Studies Frank Shovlin is currently editing the correspondence of major Irish writer John McGahern (The Barracks, Amongst Women, That They May Face the Rising Sun). In her very personal collection, Bel Mooney’s Lifelines: Words to Help You Through, the author, journalist and critic shares selected letters and her words of wisdom as a popular advice columnist for the Daily Mail.
