Welcome to the first in the series of 'Writer's Playtime' workshops!
The purpose of these workshops is to create a fun, safe environment for you to experiment with your craft and let your imagination roam freely. With a variety of writing games, activites and prompts, you'll be sure to beat any writer's block and get back into a writing groove!
There will also be plenty of time to chat to other writers and even a couple of more collaborative activites.
Each month, we'll explore a different theme: this month's theme will be 'Between Worlds'. Perfect for Halloween week!
What to expect from this month's theme:
Step into the spaces where one world blurs into another - the thresholds, crossings, and hidden places where transformation takes place.
Through playful prompts and guided exercises, you’ll write your way into:
- Liminal landscapes - doorways, borders, and in-between places.
- Lives in transition - characters caught between cultures, identities, or states of being.
- Otherworldly crossings - slipping through the veil between life and death, dream and waking, light and shadow.
- Colliding realities - when two worlds bleed into each other, what emerges in the overlap?
No experience is needed, just curiosity and imagination. You might come away with eerie ghost encounters, tales of parallel universes, or poetic reflections on the unseen.
Come ready to experiment, to play, and to see what stories unfold when you stand between worlds.
