Writing a subject development plan for music
Rebecca Barnett
About this event
- Event lasts 1 hour
In June 2022 the DfE published 'The power of music to change lives: a national plan for music education' to 'enable all children and young people to learn to sing, play an instrument and create music together, and have the opportunity to progress their musical interests, including professionally.' It recognises the importance of schools in providing musical opportunities in and out of the classroom through:
🎵 Timetabled curriculum of at least one hour per week
🎵 Access to lessons across a range of instruments and voice
🎵 At least one vocal and one instrumental ensemble
🎵 A space for rehearsals and individual practice
🎵 A termly school performance
🎵 Opportunity to enjoy live performance at least once a year
The document goes on to recommend every school creates a music development plan that ‘captures the curricular and co-curricular offer and sets out how it will be staffed and funded’ – this session will support you to update or develop your development plan for the coming academic year.
Join Aurora Orchestra's Learning Manager, Rebecca, for an online event to explore writing a subject development plan for music in primary settings. This interactive session will include discussion and a Q&A session to ensure you get the most out of the CPD.
After reserving a spot you will also be added to our Aurora Classroom mailing list which will keep you up to date with other similar events and opportunities – we will never share your details or spam you, and you can unsubscribe at any time by emailing us.
