Event description
Learn why storytelling is a powerful business tool and how to do it effectively

About this Event

Humans are a storytelling species. Storytelling is our way of understanding the world. We've all got a story to tell, but how do we make people listen?

Delivered by two experienced business writers and authors, this half-day course educates you on the power of storytelling in human organisations, and gives you practical advice on how to hone your writing skills. The programme will help improve the quality of your presentations, marketing material, reports and website copy. But it is more than a skills course: our aim is to deepen your understanding of the power and importance of narrative in our lives, and enhance your personal confidence and clarity of thinking.

What to expect:

Combining practical experience with research and theory, Lisa and Philip will teach you the importance of storytelling in business and how to do it effectively.

  • Introduction
  • Insight into research and discoveries from cognitive psychology and neuroscience that illustrate the extent to which all humans are shaped by the power of the narrative
  • Practical tutorial on how to write online content and how to use your writing skills to boost SEO, attract customers to your website, and enhance your brand image
  • Principles of storytelling, ‘show don’t tell’, how to avoid clichés and find powerful, original forms of expression
  • Practical exercise to embed your new skills
