Event description
A workshop with Leanne Moden about experimenting with music, sound effects and soundscapes to create great audio poetry.

About this event

This workshop is for writers looking to expand their practice, and utilise audio elements such as music, sound effects and soundscapes as part of their poetry. We no longer need fancy equipment in order to record ourselves – most smartphones have great quality audio recording software installed as standard – so why not write poetry that takes advantage of the medium?

This fun and friendly workshop will give you some great ideas on new ways to write and present your work, and give you another way to share your poetry digitally. If you’re keen for a challenge, join poet and workshop leader Leanne Moden for “Writing Audio Poetry”. This workshop is great for writers working at an intermediate level and is suitable for all ages.

By the end of this session, participants should be able to:

  • Write poems that take sound and audio performance as their starting point
  • Consider the use of sound effects and music as part of a performance
  • Use voice, tone, volume and silence to good effect in a poem
  • The session will also help participants introduce audio editing software into their creative practice.
