About this event

Government • Non-partisan

The Stanley Burton Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Studies is a non-profit teaching and research centre dedicated to advancing world-leading scholarship and public engagement in Holocaust and Genocide studies, Jewish history, mass violence, and the legacies of violent conflict. Building on our series of events, we are delighted to invite you to a book talk titled Writing Cultural Histories of Nazi Germany: Thoughts from the Concert Hall by Professor Neil Gregor. In this discussion, Professor Gregor will reflect on what the study of orchestras and their audiences reveals about the cultural and social history of Nazi Germany. He examines the regime’s efforts to create a new “listening community” through classical music, situating these within broader questions of social transformation under Nazism. This free event welcomes historians, students, archivists, heritage professionals, and anyone interested in Jewish and Holocaust history.
