About this event
Aisling Walsh will host a highly informative online workshop in writing and directing for film & television, offering participants a chance to develop an idea and get feedback. Aisling Walsh is a Film and Television Director and Writer. She is a graduate of The National Film School. Beaconsfield and of Dun Laoghaire School of Art. Dublin. She has won over 40 international film and television awards. She is a 3 times BAFTA winner and an IFTA winner in 2017.
Aisling is known for her searing portrayals of true life stories, for tackling difficult subjects and for the performances she achieves with her cast. Her films have premiered at Telluride, Toronto. Sundance and Berlin Film Festivals.
Here feature films include the 2017 multi award winning Maudie starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke. 2003 Song for a Raggy Boy starring Aidan Quinn and 2006 Daisy Chain with Samantha Morton. She made her debut feature film Joyriders in 1988.
Her recent BAFTA nominated television film, Elizabeth is Missing saw twice Oscar winner Glenda Jackson’s return to the screen after a 27 year absence. Jackson won the 2019 Best Actress BAFTA for her performance and an International Emmy as well as a Press Guild Award and a BAFTA Scotland Award.
Her other television credits include BAFTA nominated An Inspector Calls in 2015 with David Thewlis and Ken Stott. A Poet on New York for which she won a BAFTA in 2015 and Room at the Top for which she won a BAFTA in 2013. Wallander in 2012 for which Kenneth Branagh won his first acting BAFTA.
