Writing Flash Fiction: Creative Writing Course

Join us for this FREE* Creative Writing Course at the Parish Room, St David's Church (for adults aged 19+)

Flash Fiction is a very short story. Every sentence reveals the story and often suggests a back story hidden behind the text.

Over the years Flash Fiction has become extremely popular, with many writing competitions now dedicating a section to it. What are the rules? How short are we talking?

Here is a chance to have a go at writing some extremely short stories using a variety of prompts and guides and enjoying the fun and relaxed process of creating mini fiction. You'll be supported by our friendly tutor and perhaps your writing will spark a new creative hobby for you!

No experience is necessary for this free of charge course which runs over five Friday mornings. We encourage people new to Creative Writing to join this course.

What will I learn?

You'll begin with an introduction to the genre of Flash Fiction and explore a variety of activities to begin writing short short stories. Over the weeks, you'll build confidence and explore more prompts and guides to produce your own flash fiction.

Our Creative Writing courses are popular, fun and friendly. Coming along each week is a great way to meet new people, make friends and try out something new.

Starting on Thursday 15 January, the course will take place in the Parish Room at The Parish Room, St Davids Church, Queen's Terrace, Exeter, EX4 4HR.
