WRITING FLASH FICTION

Thursday Evenings 6.30 - 8.30pm for five weeks 11th November - 9th December 2021

What is Flash Fiction? Flash Fiction is an old art form which has re-emerged amidst renewed interest in the 21st Century. Sometimes referred to as ‘very short short story writing’, Flash Fiction concentrates plot and characters into as few words as you like and has found new popularity on the internet.

This workshop based course offers weekly writing prompts, weekly resumes and individual recorded feedback to help you start or develop your writing skills in this exciting genre.

Tutor : Susan Haigh

Susan Haigh is an award-winning short story writer, a graduate of M.Litt course in Writing Practice and Study at the University of Dundee. Her work has appeared in Mslexia, New Writing Dundee, Northwords Now, Gutter, New Short Stories (Willesden Herald), The Scottish Arts Trust Anthology (forthcoming) and a number of other journals and anthologies. She also reviews fiction and poetry for The Short Review, The New Short Review and Dundee University Review of the Arts.

Comments from Susan's recent course 'Insight Into Very Short Fiction' held in 2021

"The tutor, Susan Haigh, was excellent and always gave encouraging and positive feedback. I learned a lot from suggestions she made to help me improve my writing skills. I have already signed up for another couple of courses."

"This course was excellent and I'm sorry it's finished. The tutor was superb - very knowledgeable and extremely generous with her time and expertise".

"This was an excellent series of workshops and I would love to attend more of Sue Haigh's classes online in the autumn".
