Writing For Fun & Sanity
Event Information
About this event
Hello!
This is a writing workshop for absolutely anyone. No need to have written before and there will be no pressure to read anything you write out loud.
This class is about writing for self-expression and as a way of moving the jumble of thoughts from your head to the page. This isn't a workshop about how to write a book or an article or a short story - this is writing just for the fun of it, writing just to see what comes out.
There's always so much more going on inside us than we realise - a stew of memories, worries, dreams, conversations, to-do lists...
Studies show that putting this stuff on the page is hugely therapeutic and can even improve your physical health.
Writing can also be a beautiful form of mindfulness - helping us to pay attention to the small moments of life that we often miss but which, actually, is where the magic is.
Most importantly, for me at least, writing has been the way that I have got to know myself, what I think, feel and dream of.
ABOUT ME
I am a freelance journalist and have written for papers and magazines around the world. My first book Help Me! was about a year long quest to find happiness by following the rules of self-help books. It's been translated into 29 languages, sat on bestseller lists and TV rights have been sold. It started life with me scribbling into journals and making notes on my phone.
WHERE IS IT?
ONLINE - The Zoom link will be sent out in an email before the event starts.
I hope this timing means that it is vaguely doable for friends in Canada and also Australia.
Lots of love
Marianne
