Generator are pleased to announce a special 2 day masterclass at Loft Music Studios for producers and composers looking to develop the skills needed to write music for moving image including Film, TV and Video Games. This is also aimed at film-makers looking to gain an insight in to the process and network with producers and composers in the region.

Thursday 1st June: 6.00 – 9.00pm

The first day is an industry expert panel discussion open to all with an interest in the subject and will provide an engaging discussion around the creative and business processes involved in writing for screen in 2017.

Andrew Archer from Loft Music Studios will head up a panel of industry experts including:

Mark Gordon (Score Draw Music)
Martin Hewett (On The Beach Music / Sony)
Steve Bowden (Vita Nova Films)

The panel will include discussion around the following key questions…

  • What does the writing process involve when writing to brief?

  • How do you build contacts and source work?

  • What fees and/or royalties are involved?

  • What are filmmakers looking for?

  • What is involved in clearing rights?

Friday 2nd June: 10.00am – 6.00pm

The second day is a unique opportunity for 8 producers/composers to work in pairs and write to an existing brief while receiving mentorship from John Elliott at Loft Music Studios. To be considered for the second day please complete the appropriate section in your registration, producers and composers will be required to submit examples of their work in the form of a private Soundcloud link or similar.

Applicants for Day 2 will be selected by the mentors at Loft Music Studios and you will be advised if you have been successful by Tuesday 30 May.
