About this event

Please note this online course runs for 4 consecutive Tuesdays, from 6th to the 27th September at 18:30-20:30.

In this four week interactive Zoom course, through a series of writing exercises, group discussions and textual analyses, participants will learn tools and techniques to help them devise, structure, plan and write a TV series or serial.

They'll also learn how to develop loglines, pitches and treatments as well as being guided through the planning and writing process.

James McDermott...

...is one of the writers on EastEnders and is currently developing an original TV comedy drama with Big Talk. James graduated from the University of East Anglia (UAE) with an MA (Distinction) in Scriptwriting and has participated on BBC Studios' Sketch Comedy Writing Intensive, Hat Trick's Your Voice Your Story Scheme and BFI's East of England Academy.

James's stage plays published by Samuel French include 'Rubber Ring' (Pleasance Islington/UK Tour; Winner of Pulse Festival's Suitcase Prize) and 'Time & Tide' (Park Theatre/East of England tour; nominated for an Offie for Best New Play 2020).

James has recently begun teaching scriptwriting at UAE. He is looking forward to leading this course.
