Writing for Wellbeing
Saturday 16th May. 10am-1pm. £25 per person



Aim of the workshop...

A relaxed and friendly workshop providing a guided introduction to the therapeutic power of creative writing. This time and space gives you a chance to write and see where your words take you.


About Helen...

Helen is a writer of creative non-fiction, fiction and poetry. Author of ‘Piece by Piece: Remembering Georgina: A Mother’s Memoir’ (Slipway, 2015), she was the winner of the InkTears Flash Fiction Contest 2015 and the People Not Borders Short Story Competition 2018.

Her poetry pamphlet ‘Way Out’ was published by Black Light Engine Room Press and her work has appeared in a number of literary magazines. Helen has an MA in Creative Writing (Distinction) from Teesside University, a PTLLS qualification, and is a member of the National Association of Writers in Education. Helen has lived experience of writing through depression and trauma: she is a firm believer in the therapeutic power of words and stories.


Who it's for...

This workshop is suitable for anyone with an interest in creative writing. NO experience necessary, you don't have to be good at spelling or grammar, just able to speak and write in basic english. Suitable for all learning abilities including dyslexia.

£25 per person includes all resources & unlimited refreshments.
Please just bring along a pen and writing paper if you wish.


What you get...
Tips, techniques and information on creative writing techniques. Guided activities by local published poet and author, Helen Anderson. An opportunity to experience a variety of writing for wellbeing techniques in a supported space with Counsellor and Psychotherapist, Kay Tarry. Handouts are provided where applicable but feel free to bring along a notepad, writing paper and a pen if you wish.


Breaks, lunch and allergies...

Hot and cold drinks as well as light snacks will be provided throughout the day. There will be vegan milk/biscuits provided. Please let me know in advance f there are any special requests/allergies etc.


Parking and public transport...

There is ample parking a minutes’ walk away from the office.
Free Parking is available at weekends in Redcar Community Heart and Hub (underground) car parks.
There is parking for 3 hours at Morrisons for customers. Most nearby streets have pay and display operating.
Please always check street/car park signage to avoid penalties.

The train station is less than 1 minutes walk away from the office.
The main bus stops in Redcar at the Clock are about 5 minutes walk.
