Writing Lives: Creating Characters For The Stage

Keep On Keepin' On, a ne play by award-winning writer Mick Martin is coming to Blackpool this May!

Join Mick at Blackpool Grand Theatre for a practical and inspiring creative writing

workshop that dives into the heart of writing for live performance. Drawing from his

hit plays Once Upon A Time In Wigan and Keep On Keepin’ On. Currently touring to

Blackpool Central Library (28–31 May), Keep On Keepin’ On is a soulful, heartfelt, and

hilariously chaotic tale of love, family, and survival set to the blistering soundtrack of

Northern Soul.

Mick will guide you through the process of crafting authentic characters and

compelling scenes—rooted in real voices, conflicts, and emotions.

This workshop is perfect for students interested in drama, creative writing,

performance, or anyone who’s ever had a character or story they wanted to explore

but didn’t know where to begin.

Refreshments will be provided.
