WRITING Moderation Meetings for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 teachers
Tue 28 March 2017, 16:00 – 17:30 BST
Following up on our work around developing subject knowledge and writing and grammar, punctuation and spelling pedagogies in the new curriculum, ODST has arranged for Hub moderation meetings in writing and other Emglish activitoes for all staff involved in KS2.
With the increased Ofsted focus on the accuracy and impact of assessment to establish pupils' starting points and to help modify teaching so that pupils achieve their potential, it is essential that teacher judgements are accurate so that they can build on learning.
There will be opportunities for teachers/teaching assistants to agree what the ‘expected standard’ and ‘higher standard’ look like for their year group and then apply this knowledge within the moderation process. The process can be applied to further aspects of learning back in the classroom.
The aims of the workshop are to provide teachers/teaching assistants with:
- a general introduction about assessment/interim frameworks in 2017
- agreement about what the ‘expected standard’ and ‘higher standard’ within the expected standard look like for their year group
- support colleagues in reaching judgements that are assessed against national standards
- highlight good examples which ODST can load onto Target Tracker as exemplars for its schools
The focus/strand will be writing but flexible so that attendees can focus on other aspects of English.
Teachers/teaching assistants will need to bring a range of pupils’ books and other relevant assessment information.
Key Stage 2 – (15% sample size)
- 1 FE or less 5 pupils
- 2 FE 9 pupils
