About this event
Following the sell-out success of our first event, we are excited to announce a second writing day retreat in Leith Croft Community Cafe!
Want to write but keep procrastinating? Promise today's the day but then accidentally take a 3 hour nap with your cat instead?
Friends, we have ALL been there - but let's face it, that award-winnng novel isn't going to write itself!
Join us for a full day of creative writing and make it happen!
We'll write in manageable 1 hour-ish sprints, with regular breaks. Oh, and there will be plenty of yummy snacks, plus tea/coffee to keep us motivated.
Day Schedule:
9:30am - 10am: arrive, get settled in, chat to other writers and grab a coffee - we'll introduce ourselves and share goals for the session
10:00am - 11:am: first writing sprint!
11am - 11.15am: break (maybe grab a wee biscuit or some fruit!)
11:15am - 12:15pm: second writing sprint
12:15pm - 1:00pm: lunch (sandwiches, with dietary requirements catered for)
The cafe has an amazing location inside the park, so we will be near lots of soothing trees/green space if anyone fancies a lunchtime stroll! The market will also be happening on Sunday so a nice opportunity to have a break and potter about.
1:00pm - 1:45pm: final writing sprint of the day!
1:45pm -2:00pm: reflecting on the writing day with your table (maybe share a favourite sentence or paragraph if you feel like it - but absolutely no pressure!)
2:00pm: well dones and goodbyes!
Frequently asked questions
Not at all - there is absolutely zero pressure to share unless you feel like it! There will be some time at the end of the event where writers can share a snippet of their work/their ideas with just their table - but again, you absolutely do not need to participate in this unless you want to.
That's totally up to you! This is a self-guided writing retreat and you can work on anything your heart desires. Poetry, prose, fiction, non-fiction, screenplays....it's all good!
Of course! We're all about providing a supportive and productive writing environment - what you write is up to you. We're here to get words on the page (plus have a laugh, support each other and eat some biscuits).
The venue has wheelchair access, and an accessible toilet. Please let us know of any other accessibility requirements you may have, and we can make suitable accommodations. We'd like to emphasise that we want this day to feel comfortable for everyone - if you need to step out at any point that's ok!
Yes!! Your ticket covers a yummy sandwich lunch as well as coffee/tea, and loads of good snacks! (Please note we are now working with the coffee to get some cafetieres of coffee for the group - any fancier coffees you'll have to purchase yourself.)
