About this event

As part of our ongoing commitment to centring girls’ rights and challenging harmful narratives, the Girls' Rights Collective is proud to host a powerful webinar in partnership with Rape Crisis South London.

Join us for "Writing the Wrongs: Shifting the Narrative Around Sexual Violence", a session exploring the media’s role in shaping public perception around rape, childhood sexual abuse, and those affected by it.

Marking their 40th anniversary, Rape Crisis South London are stepping into a bold new chapter—one that unapologetically honours the voices and power of survivors. In this webinar, Hannah Sanders, Director of Fundraising and Communications, and Ebonie Wilson, Monitoring, Impact, Evaluation & Learning Lead, will share insights from their groundbreaking research report Writing the Wrongs.

Together, we'll unpack:

  • How the media portrays survivors, victims, and perpetrators of sexual violence
  • The influence of politicians, leaders, and influencers on public narratives
  • The real-world impacts of harmful storytelling
  • Actions we can all take to challenge injustice and build a more supportive world for survivors

Whether you're an activist, professional, or advocate, this session will offer practical steps for changing the conversation—and driving collective change.

Register now to join the conversation and be part of the change.

We believe that every girl and young woman has the potential to achieve anything. Our mission is to help them fulfil that potential by providing a supportive and fun place for girls to meet friends, learn more about themselves and grow in confidence.

We support volunteers throughout England and Wales in running weekly girls-only groups with a programme of activities that will help girls and young women develop the confidence, self-esteem, emotional wellbeing and resilience they need to be the truest, happiest versions of themselves, no matter what life throws at them.
