Writing with Purpose: Precision and Pedagogy in Y6

By RISE East of England Teaching Exchange
Online event

Overview

A free, practical webinar for English subject leaders to strengthen practice and raise Year 6 outcomes ahead of SATs.

This session supports English leaders to strengthen the quality and consistency of writing instruction across UKS2 by focusing on precision, purpose, and evidence. Leaders will explore how grammar can be taught in context, prioritising grammatical choices that genuinely shape meaning and impact for the reader, rather than isolated feature coverage.

The session will examine high-quality modelling of writing, showing how teachers can demonstrate application, accuracy, and decision-making when teaching to the Writing TAF criteria.

A strong emphasis will be placed on pedagogical content knowledge in writing, identifying the specific instructional strategies that reliably produce clear evidence of ARE and GDS.
