Learn the secrets to writing - and selling - short stories to women's magazines.

Fiction editors of women's magazines are constantly looking for writers who can deliver reader-targeted stories. This workshop will cover the basics of fiction writing for magazines, giving advice on what magazines are looking for and how to get published. The workshop will give you a greater understanding of the women's magazines fiction market and an increased confidence in your ability to write and submit stories that stand out in a very competitive market.

Glenda Young

Glenda Young is a prize-winning short story writer. She is the author of two ITV Coronation Street official TV Tie-In books and provided substantial updates to two further ITV books. She has also written three Coronation Street unofficial companion books.

Glenda’s debut novel, ‘Belle of the Back Streets’, will be published in November 2018 by Headline. It is a family saga, set in Sunderland, in the north-east coal mining village of Ryhope in 1919. A further two saga novels set in Ryhope in 1919 will be released by Headline in 2019 and 2020.

Glenda’s short fiction currently appears in magazines including Take a Break, My Weekly, The People’s Friend, The People’s Friend Fiction Special and in the South African You magazine. She is author of the first ever weekly soap opera, Riverside, for The People’s Friend magazine – the longest running women’s magazine in the world.

In addition, she is editor of the Coronation Street Blog, a fan website online since 2007 and a finalist in the UK Blog Awards 2018.
