About this event
This two hour workshop will be led by The Craft House’s creative writing tutor, Alyson Faye.* It is suitable for beginners and those who have done some fiction writing already.
Writing isn’t just about writing a 300 page novel; there are all sorts of shorter forms of fiction writing to explore:- from short stories, to the rich variety offered by flash fiction. In the realms of flash fiction you can write 50 word stories called ‘dribbles’, or 100 worders called ‘drabbles’, or pieces of ‘sudden fiction’ (around 750 words).
In this workshop we will look at how to write, edit and compress a whole miniature story of up to 100 words onto a blank postcard.
The tutor will lead the exercises, provide the writing prompts, and the postcards to write on, and give you tips for how to write short and punchy, how to pack a world into a tiny tale. There will be worksheets to take away.
The emphasis is on on having fun, and learning something new. Plus you can take your postcard(s) home with you at the end of the workshop.
