Workshop: Take Your First Steps Into Commercial Fiction with Angela Jackson

If you enjoy reading page-turners and are interested in writing your own, this event is perfect for you. Award-winning author Angela Jackson has created an intensive one and a half hour beginners’ workshop where you’ll discover how to craft a commercial story and learn how to create vivid, compelling characters. By the end, you'll have the tools and motivation to embark on your own exciting creative journey.

Angela Jackson is an award-winning novelist and performer whose debut, The Emergence of Judy Taylor, won the Edinburgh International Book Festival’s First Book Award and topped Amazon’s Comic Fiction chart. Her second novel, The Darlings, grew from her sold-out Edinburgh Fringe show, and in 2023 she was commissioned to write two episodes for Amazon’s award-winning children’s podcast. She holds Master’s degrees in Creative Writing, Scriptwriting, and Music Psychology, and is completing a PhD on mental distress in UK TV comedy drama. She is currently finishing her third novel and preparing a new solo show for the Fringe this August. She has over a decade of teaching experience, including teaching Creative Writing at undergraduate level, and is a writing mentor for Creative Edinburgh.
