PRESENTER 1: MARIE-LOUISE SCHEMBRI - ASSOCIATE SUSTAINABILITY CONSULTANT - HILSON MORAN
'Towards Nearly Zero Energy Buildings'
Marie-Louise will be presenting on UK targets to achieve 'nearly zero energy' by the end of 2020. She will be talking about her experience at Hilson Moran and now that the government has thrown the UK's zero carbon buildings targets out of the window after 9 years of investment and consultation, how this may affect the way we build? What are the industry incentives for achieving the EU Directive Nearly Zero Energy buildings by 2020?
In addition to managing the day to day running of the organisation's sustainability agenda, Marie-Louise interfaces with MEP design groups and clients and undertakes business development. Marie-Louise specialises in the development and delivery of low energy and sustainability strategies from design detail to a masterplan level, particularly for planning submissions.
PRESENTER 2: LORNA RUSSELL - ENVIRONMENTAL ASSURANCE MANAGER - CROSSRAIL
'Sustainability at Crossrail and legacy of good environmental practice: passing on lessons learnt'
The presentation will introduce the Crossrail project covering economic, social and environmental challenges and opportunities for the Crossrail team. Economic will touch upon the Crossrail supply chain and social will look at women in engineering, skills and investment, whilst environmental will look at key topics such as air quality, carbon and energy and excavated materials. The Crossrail innovation programme and examples of how this has been used in the sustainability context will be discsussed along with the sharing of best practice and Crossrail's learning legacy which is now a focus for the Crossrail environment and sustainability team.
