The West Surrey Materials Society's Annual Three Minute Thesis Competition: 180 seconds for doctoral level researchers and recent doctoral graduates to present the meaning of their work to the general public.
The Three Minute Thesis (3MT) was originally developed by the University of Queensland, but is taking the world by storm. Here, the West Surrey Materials Society is proud to present a Materials themed competition. Materials are an important part of everyday life, with research helping to improve the functionality of modern gizmos, the durability of buildings and infrastructure and the performance of cars and planes. In this Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition, Researchers will present the cutting edge of industrial research. Three minutes isn't long, so the competition will see the contestants trying to get the guts of the problem and their solution across without jargon, waffle or maths!
