About this event
A space to nourish your body, mind and soul in these times of deep unrest.
We know the steadfast effort that activism takes.
How we take care of our inner landscape becomes vital to the longevity of our movements.
An invitation to be in community; a dedicated moment to be with your body and share practices that can help us process these times and keep going with our work. There will be a number of somatic tools shared to take home.Elina believes that to be deeply present in this vibrant flesh is a radical act, and one of the biggest gifts we can give each other and ourselves for long-term collective and individual health.
This workshop has been created to resource those engaged in activist work, as well as allies who would like to join us and be in community. An offering to help mitigate the burnout of organising, and to connect with people across movements.
We will be moving, breathing and speaking: no prior movement experience necessary. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. For a free place, please email sam@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk

About the Hosts:
Elina Akhmetova (she/they)
Elina is a dance artist, cultural worker, producer and activist. Her work spans across dance, theatre, film, immersive and museum performances, with movement as a core vehicle of expression. Her work centres protest, dissidence, resistance, and the collective ways we can say “No” to harmful structures.
Jose Funnell (they/them)
Jose Funnell is an interdisciplinary artist and dancer based in London. Through live performance, sound, film and the workshop space, they explore the radical potential of embodiment as a site of liberation, healing and exchange in service of collective transformation.
Accessibility:
Please note, we are on the second floor of a warehouse building, accessed by a staircase only. We regret that we cannot currently adequately support wheelchair users and those for whom stairs are a barrier.
We are committed to removing other barriers to access. If you would like to talk to us about your access needs, please contact: frances@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk. Read more about our commitments to anti-ableism as part of our Artist Community Culture Document
About WTF Thursdays:
WTF Thursdays is a space creating possibilities for experimentation and community-building amongst artists. Each evening, CDS hands over the keys to the building for an artist in the CDS Artist Community to host an event in the spirit of low-stakes, DIY action.
Tickets are low-cost, pay what you can, with all the proceeds going to the host artist. If you need access to a free ticket, please email: sam@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk
