What sort of vibe can I expect?

Wura will be a fun and family-friendly experience for all ages - for adults to remember nostalgic children's songs or learn about a new culture and for children of all ages to be immersed in West African culture through song, stories and dance. There will be lots of opportunity for all to join in!

Is this just for West Africans?

Absolutely not! Wura is a celebration of West African childhood and culture, come one and all!

Wura is a family event aimed at young children for all ages to enjoy. Tickets are for adults and children, so rather than come alone find a family to tag along with!

What does 'Wura' mean?

Wura means gold in the Yoruba language, spoken in West Africa; primarily in Southwestern Nigeria, Benin and Togo and as far as migrated communities in Ghana, Sierra Leone and The Gambia. It's a reminder that West African childhood culture; our songs and stories are golden and should be treasured.
