Event description

Description

WW100 Scotland is set to commemorate the remarkable achievements of Dr Elsie Inglis and the Scottish Women’s Hospitals during the WW1 effort, 100 years on from her death.

The Scottish Women’s Hospitals were set up by Dr Elsie Inglis after answering a call for doctors and nurses to help on the front line when World War One broke out. After being told by the War Office ‘my good lady go home and sit still’ as women were not allowed to serve on the front-line, Elsie was not to be deterred and, as a result, many lives were saved.

A service celebrating the work of Elsie and the Scottish Women’s Hospitals will be held in St Giles Cathedral on Wednesday, 29 November in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal.

NOTE - ALL GUESTS ARE ASKED TO BRING WITH THEM A PRINTED TICKET AS WELL AS ONE FORM OF PHOTOGRAPHIC ID
