Come join us for a special interior catacomb chambers tour in Key Hill cemetery to commemorate V.E Day
Meet in Warstone Lane cemetery at 11am for 11. 20am tour.

There will be several chambers open in the catacombs and no human remains or coffins will be seen.


Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to delve into the past, of hidden Birmingham.

The duration of the tour is about 20 to 40 minutes depending on Q & A that is encouraged.

We ask that you arrive 20 minutes before the Key Hill tour commences to allow time to check in and collect your admittance badge at the information stall / gazebo in Warstone Lane cemetery.
Once you have collected your admittance badge a volunteer Marshall will then walk the group to neigbouring Key Hill cemetery to meet your guide.

Only those with proof of admittance will be admitted.

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.

ALL TOURS for this one day event will leave from the Friends information stall / gazebo in Warstone Lane cemetery, that includes tours for both Key Hill & Warstone Lane cemetery that require booking separately.

The Friends will have a a sales stall and an information stall to assist with burial plot numbers.

Also joining the Friends on the day is Birmingham Air Raid Remembrance Association.

Friends of Key Hill Cemetery & Warstone Lane Cemetery who are all volunteers, officially formed in 2004 and are the only group to care for the cemeteries as well as raising funds for damaged and broken graves aiding the Friends restoration fund. This is achieved via membership, guided cemetery tours, catacomb tours, talks and presentations, sales at open days and history fairs , plus donations ,this revenue aids the Friends Grave Restoration Fund for damaged & broken graves.

How do I get to the event?

Getting here: Train and Tram stops at the Jewellery Quarter Station in Vyse Street , Hockley Bus 8a, 8c and 101 from Birmingham city centre to Chamberlain clock at Warstone Lane walk to Vyse Street, Bus 16 &74 to Great Hampton Street. Car – Multi-storey car park in Vyse Street.

WHERE DO WE MEET?

For this one day event only meet inside Warstone Lane cemetery, Vyse Street, at the Friends Information stall/ gazebo 20 minutes before your tour commences, this allows time to check in & collect your admittance badge, and for a volunteer take you to meet your guide in Key Hill cemetery

What is the duration of the tour?

Interiors catcaomb tours duration is about 20 to 40 minutes depending on Q & A. The Friends Sunday cemetery tours Stories from the Stones are about 2 hours each cemetery.

Do you give refunds ?

No, sorry we do not give refunds.

Can I change my ticket?

No sorry this is a one time event.

Do you have facilities in the cemetery

A porta loo is hired for this special open day. There are not any facilities in either Warstone Lane cemetery or neigbouring Key Hill cemetery. There are several, cafe's, bars and restaurants nearby.

Are the tours suitable for the less abled

These tours are not suitable for wheelchairs or mobility scooters. Both cemeteries have uneven ground. There are several steps in both cemeteries.

Are there any concessions for cemetery tours & catacomb tours?

There are no concessions for catacomb tours. Sunday Cemetery Tours & Friday evening tours , no charge for those who hold a current membership, contact the Friends for an application form. www.fkwc.org

What are the dates for the Friends cemetery tours?

Stories from the Stones cemetery tours are the second Sunday of the month, except for December. Each cemetery requires booking separately – view events on www.fkwc.org : Summer evening tours An Introduction to the cemeteries tour combines both cemeteries in one tour.

Do I have to arrive early?

Please arrive by 11am at the Friends gazebo inside WARSTONE Lane cemetery, Vyse St, to book in & collect your admittance badge a volunteer will walk with you to meet your guide at 11.15am in neigbouring Key Hill cemetery.

Do you make a profit from the tours?

No, All revenue from the Friends of Key Hill & Warstone Lane tours, talks & presentations, membership, plus sales & donations are for the Friends Grave Restoration Fund, to repair damaged & broken graves.

Guided Cemetery Tours of both Warstone Lane Cemetery & Key Hill Cemetery are the second Sunday of the month except for December.

All tours require pre-booking .

Warstone Lane Cemetery Tours at 11.50 am for a 12 noon start

Key Hill Cemetery Tours at 1.50pm for a 2pm start .

Each cemetery tour last about 1 and half to 2 hours depending on Q & A.

Guided Interior Catacombs Tours are only certain times of the year and time slots differ from cemetery tours.

These are no facilities in the cemeteries but plenty of café, restaurants and bars nearby.
