Wye Downs Equinox Walk

Come join us for a magical Equinox Walk at the stunning Wye Downs in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Kent. Let's celebrate the changing of the seasons together surrounded by the beauty of nature. This in-person event will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, breathe in the fresh air, and soak in the tranquil atmosphere of the Downs. Don't miss out on this special experience!

⏰ What is the duration of this event? The walk will last approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes.

🗺 What is the distance of the walk? 5 miles /8 km (approx).

🗺 Is this a circular or linear walk? This is a circular walk, starting and finishing at Wye Train Station, TN25 5EB.

🧭 Where is the meeting point? Please meet outside Wye Station, by the North Downs Way Information Board.

👩🏿 Who can attend this walk? The walk is open to all but the distance and 220 steep steps en route mean that a certain level of fitness/mobility is required. Please get in touch with the organiser if you have any specific concerns in this regard.

👨‍🦯 Is this walk suitable for those with those with other physical, learning, or mental health needs? This walk is not suitable for those using mobility aids.

🚸 What ages is this suitable for? 10+. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

🚂 Is this walk accessible via public transport? If so by bus or train? Yes. We begin and end at Wye Station, which has direct trains from Canterbury, Ashford International and London stations.

♿ Is there parking? Free parking is available at Wye Station; limited street parking is also available in Wye village.

⛰ What is the terrain like on this walk? It is suitable for anyone who is confident that they can walk 5 miles and 220 steep steps.

🚽 Are there toilets nearby? No but there are plenty of opportunities for ‘wild wees’!

🐕‍🦺 Is this walk dog-friendly? Friendly dogs are welcome on leads.

☕ Is there somewhere to get refreshments? There is a Co-op supermarket in Wye close to the start and end point of the walk. Please stop there first if refreshments are required. Please bring water and snacks.

🪑 Is there seating options along the route? There will be plenty of opportunities for a rest/refreshments but there is only limited seating at the Devil's Kneeding Trough and Wye Crown near the end of the route.

🎒 What do I need to bring? Please bring walking sticks if you would like additional support, a waterproof jacket, a warm layer, wear boots with good ankle support that you would not mind getting dirty - muddy paths. Please bring any medications that you are currently taking.

It is recommended to bring a blanket to sit on and a torch.

🙏 Is there an opportunity to break for prayer if needed? People of all faiths are welcome to pray on the route. Please contact us beforehand if you have any specific requirements for prayer.
