Event Information
About this Event
Are you interested in Hip Hop? Maybe you’re a singer or poet who harbours ambitions to give rap a go, or maybe you are just curious about one of the world's biggest cultural movements of the last 40 years.
Join us for this 90 minute workshop, where we will first explore the origins and influences that lead to Hip Hop’s formation in the Bronx, before analysing how some of the great rappers have composed and structured their lyrics. After a couple of story creation exercises, we will begin to formulate our own raps, where we will explore how to structure your syllables and where to place punch lines. Finally, you will learn techniques to enhance your performance and flow, leaving the workshop able to spit pure fire!
Whether you just want to sit in and learn, give the writing a go, or perform your work to the group, the session will be a safe space for aspiring rappers, and intrigued hip hop enthusiasts to learn.
We will be running 2 Sessions:
Session 1 will be weighted on Hip Hop’s History and culture, with a short rap workshop to finish.
Session 2 Will be more weighted towards the Rapping Element of the workshop.
