CASA XPS data anlysis workshop, 10 am- 4 pm, 02/11/17, F41 SSB (including lunch and morning coffee)

Delivered by Andrew Thomas (Materials), Alex Walton (Chemistry), Ben Spencer (Materials)

  • Lecture on the fundamentals of XPS and the origin of spectral features

  • Basic XPS analysis using CASAXPS: identifying elements in survey spectra, binding energy calibration, quantifying elemental percentages

  • Some advanced fitting procedures in CASA, including: spin-orbit split doublets, fitting multiple chemical species, assymetric peak shapes (metallic peaks, graphitic carbon).

  • We may have time to look at some of your own data as well.

Please download and install CASA XPS ahead of the workshop (www.casaxps.com), and go through the Basic Instructions pdf (dropbox link) which includes the Manchester site license. Also, download the example CASA files (dropbox link) as these will be worked through during the workshop.
