Event description

Description

YAADEIN, Memories explores night-time sounds fused with lullabies from the Indian Sub-Continent and the Middle-East gifted by communities from across Preston and the North West of England. Sound artist Duncan Chapman, will work with a collection of night sounds from different parts of the globe including Preston, creating a unique soundscape, experimenting with digital projection.

This soundscape forms the perfect compliment for the soothing lullabies explored-live by vocalist Supriya Nagarajan. Shakuhachi player Mike McInerney completes the trio, bringing this unique Japanese instrument to life.

“I believe that Lullabies have the power to calm and soothe, reaching into the deepest emotional areas of the human brain and I plan to explore that belief over the next few years.” Supriya Nagarajan – Manasamitra Artistic Director

This performance is specially dedicated to remember children suffering in poverty and war and a reminder of our parental bond to humanity. Join us and share your own lullaby with us which will form part of a children’s book of lullabies.
