The arts sector is famously a poorly paid one and yet in these challenging times fundraisers are, perhaps more than ever, an essential element in its future.

As many of us know, fundraisers can have a disproportionately difficult time in negotiating higher salaries, especially at early or mid-career level. When you have the responsibilities of a manger but the job title of an assistant, how do you make the case for a salary that reflects your worth?

Join us at Tobacco Factory Theatres in Bristol on Tuesday 10 December to discuss the tools you can use to negotiate effectively in the early stages of your career, and how to handle these difficult conversations in challenging times.

Our expert panel will share their experiences and insights from the arts sector and beyond, and will explore the role we can play as early career fundraisers in shaping our sector. We'll be operating under Chatham House Rules, to create a forum for an open and honest discussion about this challenging subject.

Panel of experts:

Cai Burton, Freelance Illustrator and Creative Producer

Becky Chapman, Executive Director of Diverse City

Simon Curtis, National and Regional Organiser - Wales and South West England at Equity

As always we will round off the evening with networking drinks, giving you the chance to continue the conversation, or to start new ones.

We'll see you there.

About the Organisers

Young Arts Fundraisers:

Young Arts Fundraisers is a professional network whose aim is to enable early-career fundraisers working in the cultural sector to connect with one another, engage with senior fundraisers and benefit from their experience and advice. YAF organises regular events, including networking opportunities, panel discussions and speed-mentoring sessions. We like to keep it fun too.

RAISE: Arts, Culture & Heritage:

RAISE: Arts, Culture & Heritage is the national rollout of the Institute of Fundraising Culture Sector Network, funded by Arts Council England. The 4-year programme aims to support arts and cultural fundraisers based in England through peer to peer learning, bursaries opportunities, networking events and access to onward education.

Led by the Institute of Fundraising, RAISE was founded to support professional development across England, fly the flag for the charitable case for culture, empower arts and cultural sector fundraisers to achieve higher levels of fundraising practice, and to support the drive for greater inclusivity, diversity and representation within the sector.
