Event description
Join our certificated first aid course and gain practical hands-on experience using casualty simulation and resuscitation manikins.

About this Event

Learing Outcomes:

Successful candidates must be fit and able to demonstrate CPR and First Aid including:

  • Understanding the role of a First-aider
  • The importance of preventing cross infection
  • Recording of incidents and actions
  • Use of available equipment
  • Administering First Aid to an unconscious casualty including seizure
  • Administer CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)
  • Use of Automated External defibrillator
  • Treat a casualty who is choking
  • Administer First Aid to someone who is wounded and bleeding
  • Administer First Aid to someone who is suffering from shock
  • Provide appropriate First Aid for minor injuries including cuts, grazes and
  • bruises, minor burns and small splinters.

Each course allows practical hands-on experience using casualty simulation and resuscitation manikins. Please be prepared to spend time working on the floor.

Before the course: Do not attend the course if you or someone you have been in contact with has shown Covid-19 symptoms in the last 14 days

  • Bring hand sanitiser
  • Please bring your own pen
  • Check if you need to buy First Aid supplies (kits and refills available on the course)

During the training:

  • You will be provided with gloves, visor, apron and face mask
  • Follow the social distancing instructions and remain 2 meters apart except when undertaking practical exercise wearing PPE
  • Wash your hands before eating
  • If you need to cough or sneeze do this into a tissue and then wash your hands

After the training:

  • Wash your hands
  • Wash your clothing
  • Do any follow up reading from the First Aid manual you receive

Course requirements: No previous First Aid knowledge is required.

Candidates should wear casual clothing (trousers)

Training classes are small with no more than 6 participants. This ensures a friendly relaxed atmosphere , individual attention and social distancing to be maintained. The course is continuously assessed.

Certificates awarded to successful candidates are valid for three years.

Check your First Aid Kits before the training. On the course you can buy replacement dressings and First Aid kits. If you have any injury or medical condition which prevents you taking part

If you need to cancel your place on the above event, please let us know as soon as possible as there may be a waiting list. Unfortunately we are unable to refund paid for places for non-attendance or cancellation due to the cost involved in this certificated course.
