Join YCW London for an evening of discussion with journalist and author Dinny McMahon about his new book China's Great Wall of Debt: Shadow Banks, Ghost Cities, Massive Loans, and the End of the Chinese Miracle.
Dinny will talk about the fragility that underpins the Chinese economy and financial system, and what that means for Beijing’s nascent reform agenda.
Copies of Dinny’s new book will be on sale at the event.
About Dinny McMahon
Dinny McMahon spent six years covering China’s financial system for the Wall Street Journal in Beijing, and four years prior to that writing for Dow Jones Newswires in Shanghai, where he also contributed to the Far Eastern Economic Review. Dinny completed China’s Great Wall of Debtwhile a fellow at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, DC. He’s currently a fellow at MacroPolo, a China-focused think tank in Chicago. Dinny has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New South Wales in Sydney. He also attended the Johns Hopkins SAIS program in Nanjing for Chinese and American Studies.
