Raising the participation age (RPA) – understand all of the options for you and your child
Government changes mean young people must now stay in education and training until they are 18 in 2015 making it even more important for young people to take the ‘right’ next steps. But what does that actually mean?
Raising the Participation Age (RPA) does not mean that a young person must stay at a school until they are 17. It means that they must choose to do one of the following:
• Full time education, such as school, college or home education
• Work based learning such as an Apprenticeship
• Part time education or training if they are employed, self employed or volunteering for more than 20 hours per week.
