This is an exciting opportunity to develop your understanding of writing under the new assessment framework. Using the process of joint practice development, teachers will work together to putting together a high quality portfolio of annotated writing, exemplifying age related expectations from Y1 – Y6.
Each session will include:
A deep dive into the curriculum for that year group – discussing the criteria, creating examples, finding examples in writing – so that teachers have a full understanding of what age related expectations looks like for their year group. Then, teachers will have the opportunity to carry out a full analysis of the writing they have brought, identifying which of the criteria children are already using, what they need to learn next and how far into age related expectations they are. Teachers will also be supported with how to address gaps in learning so that by the next session, the same children will have moved on in their learning and be further into age related expectations for their year group. Each of these children will be representative of their ability group so this CPD will have an impact on the whole class and consequently the school. We aim to identify CPD requirements at each session that will be addressed at subsequent sessions and also to identify best practice within your schools that can also be shared at these sessions.
This model of continuing professional development across the year has been proven to have a huge impact on both individuals and schools and consequently on the children you teach.
All sessions will be supported by Specialist Leaders in Education and by skilled moderators from across the Bradford District.
Please bring a range of writing from at least three children across the ability range from last year’s Y2 cohort and a range of writing from at least three children across the ability range from your class this year.
