About this Event

THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT. PLEASE CLICK ON TICKETS TO BE ADDED TO THE WAITING LIST. IF THERE IS SUFFICIENT INTEREST, WE WILL TRY TO RUN THE SESSION ON ANOTHER DATE AND CAN LET YOU KNOW.

This series of three sessions aims to support Year 6 teachers to develop their understanding and application of the statutory Teacher Assessment Framework for Writing through termly opportunities to meet and moderate with Year 6 colleagues.

Teachers may attend all three sessions, or select individual sessions from the course. Each session must be booked individually. We are currently hoping to hold the second and third session 'in person' in the Spring and Summer terms respectively, although this will be under review.

Session 1 – Securing the Expected Standard

In this session, teachers will secure their understanding of the ‘Pupil can’ statements relating to the expected standard and explore teaching approaches to develop their pupils’ writing towards these. Participants will then moderate samples of writing to develop and secure their understanding of the expected standard in context and to consider next steps for their own pupils.

Participants will:

  • Unpick the criteria of the Year 6 Teacher Assessment Framework for Writing
  • Explore creative teaching approaches to develop and secure pupils’ writing skills towards the ‘Pupil can’ statements
  • Participate in moderation of pupils’ writing in order to discuss, refine and secure judgements and next steps

This first session will take the form of an interactive online workshop. You will receive in advance all the handouts and resources for you to fully participate and during the session, participation tools will be used such as practical activities, breakout groups for discussion and opportunities for questions throughout.

Please be aware that due to the highly interactive nature of these sessions, tickets admit one delegate only.
