Description

Viscount Jocelyn and Tara Craig kindly invite Young Irish Georgians to a drinks party at their residence in Chelsea on 13th September, 2018 - the address will be provided to applicants.

While this is a social gathering, proceeds raised will be in aid of restoration of the boat house at Leixlip Castle, which is in the ownership of Hon Desmond and Penelope Guinness. The Hon Desmond Guinness has been instrumental in saving many important Irish Buildings as well as championing Ireland`s architectural heritage and is a founder of the Irish Georgian Society.

Leixlip Castle was built in 1172 by Adam de Hereford, a follower of Strongbow. This was the furthest point inland on the Liffey where Viking long ships could be rowed and the point that marked the border of the Pale during Medieval times. The boat house structure was thought to have been added quite late in the 18th century under The Hon George Cavendish.

To raise proceeds, we will host a raffle on the evening of the 13th. Your event ticket price will already include one raffle ticket, with additional tickets (£10 per ticket) also available on the night.

We look forward to celebrating with you socially and with the spirit of renovating a renowned piece of architecture. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid disappointment!

Non-members are also welcome.
