Description

Yin & Sound Circle

PLEASE BRING A BLANKET TO COSY UP IN :)

Refresh yourself physically with deep, slow stretching and soothing sound.

Yin yoga is for those who find they need a bit of gentle movement to unwind. It works to settle the body and mind into a slower rhythm, oxygenating and hydrating muscles and connective tissues as you go. It is also said to affect the ‘meridians’, which are bodily energy lines in Chinese medicine.

Poses are held for longer and staying closer to the ground means that gravity and time can be used to access states of awareness or parts of the body that are much more subtle than faster moving practices.

Traditionally yin yoga is done with no ‘warming up’, however I like to lead with slightly more activation of slow movement and loosening to prepare for longer holds in postures and help practitioners more easily access restful states of mind.

Coupled with sound vibrations (a sound ‘texture’ rather than actual music) from the gong, and with he option to have the Tibetan singing bowl placed on your body (generally back of shoulder blades) and ‘sung’, this makes for a powerful mix to help you rest and reconnect to yourself.

**************

But I’m not actually ‘doing’ much some say! This is a common misconception with this quieter set of practices, however the potency is in allowing you to ‘come down’ into somatic (body) awareness and access witness consciousness in order to bounce back refreshed.
